NY Womans Foundation Lunch At Le Cirque : Co-Chair of the New York Women’s Foundation’s 25th Anniversary, Jean Shafiroff hosted a luncheon at Le Cirque Restaurant on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 for the New York Women’s Foundation. The luncheon featured a chance for the women supporting the Foundation to meet and hear a special conversation mediated by Ana Oliveira, President and CEO of the New York Women’s foundation between Diana L. Taylor and Katherine G. Farley about leadership and volunteerism. The conversation discussed the importance, excitement and challenges of leading and volunteering within organizations and communities. Attendees included Jean Shafiroff, Co-Chair, NYWF’s 25th Anniversary, Ana Oliveira, President and CEO, NYWF, Diana L. Taylor, Chair, NYWF , Katherine G. While enjoying cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, guests mingled and shared personal histories with the Foundation. Ana L. Oliveira, NYWF President and CEO, expressed her gratitude for the dedication and commitment of those in attendance to fulfilling the NYWF mission. Following Oliveira, NYWF Board of Directors Vice Chair, Diana L. Taylor addressed guests, sharing her experience with the Foundation and how she became involved with NYWF—through her attendance for the Celebrating Women® Breakfast, she was struck by the power and camaraderie of the room full of thousands of woman standing behind the work of NYWF. Legends Sports Bar Manager Geraldine Byrne joined her bartenders, staff and patrons at a press conference at 6 West 33rd Street ( Between 5th and Broadway) at the world famed Legends. They showcased the green colored apple vodka that is being served at the NFL Championship Game at the pub. The Cheerleaders will be teaming up with fans to unveil the Jets Victory Dance that is being performed in the Pittsburgh Stadium bleachers for cold New York fans. A local New York Liquor company, Star Industries, is renting a green van filled with the beauties and over 10,000 green shots of Georgi Vodka, that will be distributed in the streets and bars of Pittsburgh to freezing but dedicated New Yorkers. The Steeler Nation fans have a long history of being some of the toughest in football. The former New York Cheerleader squad hopes to protect their fans.

Global Initiative & Partnership With Gift of Life International Mathias Kiwanuka, Defensive End NY Giants Nasser J. Kazeminy, Chairman, NECO Rose Taglione, Exec. Director, NECO Amber Collins, Miss New York USA 2011 The health and welfare of Ugandan children is a cause that is very dear to Mathias Kiwanuka's heart. His grandfather, Benedicto Kiwanuka was elected Uganda's first prime minister in 1961 and assassinated in 1972 by Idi Amin. In the last two years, NECO has traveled alongside Gift of Life International to Uganda and El Salvador in an effort to reach those children and families who are far off the global grid of healthcare services. The ‘Our Hearts Are In Uganda’ program has now led to the saving of 133 Ugandan children’s lives and sparked a call for life-saving surgeries that has attracted attention from around the world. A follow-up medical conference in Kampala, Uganda in October 2009 attracted pediatric cardiologists and surgeons from around the world to invest their skills at the Uganda Heart Institute. This conference laid the groundwork for 4 medical missions per year for 5 years. These missions will not only operate on 10 children at a time but will also facilitate the training of Ugandan doctors and nurses. By 2014, we expect that the Ugandan healthcare professionals at the Uganda Heart Institute will operate on 250 congenital heart patients a year on their own. The turkey, a modern spin on a traditional Irish recipe, takes three days to prepare and is infused with five different flavors of vodka: peach, cherry, orange, lemon and apple. The gravy contains 100-proof vodka. These vodka-soaked turkeys will be made available all over the Tri-State Area, and the recipe will be posted in liquor stores across the nation to boost Thanksgiving sales of spirits. Randy Jones with Keith Collins and Chris Mulkey In Atlantic City and Boogie Nights : We had a great time at Resorts Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City the past few days. Besides club hopping with Village Peoples Randy Jones and our good friends Keith Collins and Theresa Galeani at Boogie Nights, we had a great time partying with Boardwalk Empire star Chris Mulkey. Just looking up Mulkey's credits on IMDB is like a who's who in television and movie history. This famed actor has done everything and to top it off, he has that old time star class, which is very hard to find these days. As we sat down several nights in a row at our favorite watering hole The Irish Pub, just off the Boardwalk, Mulkey told me some interesting facts about the hit HBO series The Boardwalk Empire. First of all, he loves doing this show, which is great as you need to enjoy what you are doing in this business. Second, Mulkey told me the show is not filmed in Atlantic City but in studios in New York City. I was kinda of shocked. It seems that New Jersey would not give the show tax credits for filming on the famed Boardwalk, so they took it to The Big Apple, where they appreciate the film business. I really find this so stupid on New Jersey's part. First of all, Atlantic City like the rest of the country could use some more business. Tourists would flock to the hotels just to get a glimpse of these talented stars in action. The business generated would be huge and to think these stupid politicians would let a hit series like The Boardwalk Empire to be filmed elsewhere, is beyond reason. What were they thinking? Jenny Paulson dedicated the Paulson family’s recent gift of $5 million in memory of her late father. The Paulson’s gift enabled the hospital to nearly double the size of its existing Emergency Department which cares for more than 25,000 patients annually. The very modest Jean Shafiroff surrounded by family – husband Martin Shafiroff who head up Barclays Wealth Management, daughters Jacqueline and Elizabeth and her own father - was moving in sharing her amazing success with the team that she had built and attributed it all to teamwork on a massive scale. Jerry Springer And James Edstrom : Since I heard my friend of almost 20 years, Jerry Springer, was in NYC celebrating the 20th Anniversary of his hit show, The Jerry Springer Show (www.jerryspringertv.com) and was going to be in the city at Madison Square Garden for America's Got Talent Live Tour, I decided to give his talented publicist Linda Shafran a call and set up a quick photo shoot outside the Plaza Hotel. I figured we could get some great shots and I could film a quick interview for TimesSquareGossip.com and possibly for my television show that we have been filming just about everywhere in New York. We have filmed every big star but the show was missing something and that was Jerry Springer. I knew this would be fun and I knew the stuff to ask that no one even knows about Jerry, since I was one of the shows photographers in Chicago for many years. The footage we got was classic Jerry Springer. First of all, I have to tell you how I met Jerry Springer. It had to be almost 20 years ago in a supermarket on the upper east side of New York City. Jerry was there with Sara Jessica Parker to help promote a homeless charity. The Jerry Springer Show was new and already was becoming a huge hit all over the country. I knew I wanted photos that would be different, so I asked Jerry Springer and Sara Jessica Parker if they would pose behind the bread counter, like the were working there. To my amazement, they agreed, but even more funny was the old ladies shopping in the store really thought they worked there and started ordering bread. Not to miss a beat, Jerry And Sara Jessica put on the plastic gloves and started serving the ladies. It was classic Jerry Springer and the photos went to every magazine everywhere. To this day, I still laugh at this story, because this is classic Jerry Springer. Jerry goes with the flow. Jerry never misses a beat or misses a punch line. Jerry's sense of humor is endless and this is one reason that he is such a huge talent. He sees the punch line. One question I asked Jerry was how he felt about me coming into his life at some of the weirdest moments. Jerry's answer was flattering. He said he knew he was still alive and still in show business when he saw me. This is a classic Jerry Springer answer and I am sure I will be popping into Jerry's life for a very long time, because Jerry is the busiest man in show business and I know because I have lived it with him. He has his hit The Jerry Springer Show, America's Got Talent Live Tour and now a new game show called Baggage on the Game Show Network. We thought it was quite funny that Gerald would play a bear, as we never looked at him this way. My definition of a bear in gay culture has always been a slightly overweight hairy man and there is no way Gerald matches this description, except he has a slight beard, which I always wish he would shave. But as I arrived at the famed movie house, I had to laugh. There were lines down the street of Gay Bears. It seems every bear in the Big Apple had to see this movie. As I was waiting outside for my CSI Bear McCullouch, Village People legend Randy Jones arrived with Will Grega to catch the movie and all the memories the flick is sure to bring back to any gay man. I must say, Gerald McCullouch's performance is riveting. McCullouch will make you laugh and cry all in the same performance. His acting skills are top notch as he will take you through happiness and sadness all in the same scene. "Bear City" has been selling out at festivals across the world and has become a festival favorite winning awards at OutFest and in Oslo, Norway. Variety called Gerald McCullouch "charming in the movie" and The NY Times said he was "rugged, randy and assured" It plays at The Quad thru Thursday Oct. 28th.
